- i missed the site's birthday...over two years now online (and still no ads!). i hope someone taped the secret show last night in nyc. i hope even more they'll find this page somehow and contact me for a ftp account to upload it. hell, put it up on dime or etree...or even trader's den! i guess with mc's core audience either being eighteen or stoned (or some combination), i don't have much faith that people are taping his shit. i'll fight the good fight whenever he's in atlanta. speaking of atlanta i did record the last atlanta show. i'm just preoccupied with downloading hd movies from usenet at the moment. plus i was a little burned out on taping, and this show is going to be a little bitch to edit since the sound guy at the loft kept changing the volume at the show. so there's three sections to the atlanta show: part 1 is motherfucking LOUD, part 2 is amped a little low, and part 3 gets it about right.

- anyway, it's been a good two years. mc please don't let them tell you we can't tape anymore if you got signed last night.

- if you have any trouble unzipping some of the files on this site, please try to open them using this program. it's called 7-zip and is a free and open source alternative to winzip/winrar/etc. it handles almost every common compression format, plus it has it's own kickass one called lzma. link for the lazy...

- rise from your grave! mc chris live is back from the dead...mostly. i've managed to wrangle almost the entire site back from out of the corrupted backup file. you might notice a few 404 errors, but i'm working on it.

- bear with me a few more days to get everything back to normal. it's got me thinking about a site redesign though...

- the one good thing is that i learned how to restore files from fucked up harddrives. bob.

- that zip file wasn't the whole site. it was a lot of the old files so there's that, but none of the html code. what a bitch it was (will be) to code it all again. i hack this shit out by hand in vi. so i've not given up on restoring the original tarball, even if it is corrupt. see only a few sectors went bad and it was a huge file. the idea is to extract all the parts of the file that are still ok. now i've got 11,000 little tar bzip2'ed files and i'm trying to put the tarball back together. but the header files in all the little tarballs don't match up anymore since a few files (the ones where the sectors gave me the old fuck and you) are gone. i found a perl script that extracts the headers on the 512k boundaries. but the perl script doesn't do large files (bigger than 2GB in size) so i'm having to assemble clusters of the recovery files into less than 2GB chunks. will it work? who the fuck knows. i don't. back to hacking...this kind of crap drives me crazy - but it's all i know. bob.

- well the backup file is fucked. good thing i'm a packrat...i did find a backup on another server from december that i had forgotten about. it's a 10gb zip file so i'm assuming it's the site as of december 2005. not much happened between now and then so i should be back to about 90-95% of the content. zip file don't fail me now!

- bad things man...where to start? the fact is i may have lost 90% of the site. i had some server difficulties and so i decided to rebuild the box. i backed up everything first, blew away the old install, and reinstalled fresh. when i went to extract the tarball with mcchrislive inside, i started getting errors. bad sectors on the disk. ugh. i recovered what you're looking at now, which is mostly just the pics section. some videos. there's a chance i can get the rest or at least most of it back, but i don't know for sure. more as it unfolds...if you're looking for files, please be patient.

- the good news is that i have mpeg2 video footage from the pensacola, fl show! it's only about 20 minutes worth, but it's good quality. i'll post it up once i get my little mess cleaned up. bob.

- mc chris live is one year old today! 365 straight of bringing you the mc chris goodness that is his live performances. on stage is where he shines as the intergalactic rap star that he really is.

- it's been a very eventful year and i would like to think i've done what i set out to do: spread the word about mc chris. i've been a fan since may of 2004 when v1.0 of eating's not cheating was released (it was in the small hours of night and adult swim was running a promo for the album during the bumps). when the 2005 winter tour was announced my mind kept racing, "hell ya! now when's he coming to atlanta?!?". i had to wait a while until he played here, but i thought, why not try to get some photos or video from some of the other shows in the meantime? so that's how mc chris live began. with a single fett's vette video from a guy named joe in baltimore.

- now i've been through three servers and three hosting providers in georgia, virgina, and now california. i've ran the site on sun solaris, fedora core 3 and now 4 (proudly microsoft free!). i've been from direct downloads of uncompressed avi files, to using bittorrent to distribute dvd iso files, and now recording some of the shows myself. it hasn't been cheap (terabytes of bandwidth is $$$...the bill scared my wife a little some months) or easy, but i think it's been worth it. this is my way of saying thanks to mc chris for being such a bad ass rapper and dj john for having such sweet beats. so here's to mc chris and the 2006 tour!
